Who I work with.

Senior Executives

Top Athletes have a coach, why shouldn't you?

Working from a bird’s eye view is my sweet spot. Most organizations woefully under-leverage coaching (peer or external), especially at the top. I serve as an objective sounding board to drive an agreed upon agenda and/or respond to current issues depending on clients’ preferences. I work most often with senior executives on one or several of the following fronts:

Entrepreneurs and Founders

What got you here may not get you there.

Get a coach. I have a unique blend of experience in coaching, start-ups, large organizations, and early stage investing. Whether you are just beginning your entrepreneurial journey, are endeavoring to scale, or looking to turn over some / all reins to other senior leaders or an acquiring company, I promise you that a third party — squarely in your court — will help you ride the emotional and professional waves with an objectivity that will prepare you for and guide you through the multiple stages of your journey. I can work with you on any or all of the following fronts:

Rising Stars

You’re doing something right.

If you’re on the fast track, you’re doing many things right. And, just when you’ve mastered them, the criteria for success will change. Success in the future will depend on your ability to influence without authority, think strategically, work across functions and lines of business. I will work with you to define these new frontiers, analyze how they line up with your areas of strength and weakness (and areas of plain unchartered territory). I often work with rising stars on any of all of the following:

Emerging Managers

Welcome to the club!

Congratulations on your manager status, and get ready to expand your skills! It’s not about your deliverables anymore, it’s about the deliverables of those who work for you.  Earning trust is key.  And learning to trust, teach, and empower will take you out on a limb.  As your coach we can make that limb more solid.  I typically work with new managers on:

Leadership Teams

Effective leadership teams are more than the sum of their parts.

Like the journey from individual contributor to manager to company wide leader, teams can also undergo intentional development to increase their effectiveness. I often remind clients to take off their functional hat and put on their leadership team hat. I will help teams create an agenda of important (often not urgent) items. From there, I ensure no elephants are left in the room as teams learn to debate, prioritize, and make decisions together to bring their collective division or company to a new level.
